Kelly, unlike myself, likes to share her food and drink with others and – also unlike myself – has a million friends with whom to share the food and drink.
Living with Kelly sometimes feels like living with Gertrude Stein, though Kelly is not a lesbian and does not live in Paris but rather in Ocean Beach, California. She invites people in, and they sit with her at the wooden table in our modest kitchen, discussing things and sometimes sipping coffee.
It’s usually one guest at a time, and though they are all artists and lovers of art like those who passed through Stein’s doorway, they instead fall under an umbrella of wellness professionals and clients alike.
A few weeks or more ago, it was a woman named Crystal who came to discuss the idea of putting up a booth at Kelly’s monthly healer’s market. Crystal works with women, their voices, and healing through sound and song.
That morning, Kelly had prepared a delicious coffee in none other than Le Creuset Flame French press shown in the photo above. I was graciously invited to join the two for coffee and conversation. And mmm, mmm, I needed to know the magic behind that coffee.
- as many scoops of whichever type of ground bean you like, prepared in a French press
- nutmeg (my addition)
- a splash of flax milk or whichever milk you like
A small amount of each of the three spices listed above goes a long way.
Not a recipe I want to forget. If you end up giving this special blend a try, then please enjoy, and may it stimulate discussion as flavorful as ours.
